• Turbo failure: Turbo can fail at high mileage — oil starvation from blocked feed line or worn seals. Listen for whining noise and check for blue/white smoke.
• Injector failure / leak-off: Injectors develop excessive leak-off — causes hard starting, rough idle, and poor fuel economy. Testing leak-off is part of pre-purchase inspection.
• Timing belt + water pump: Belt every 90,000-120,000 km depending on variant. MUST be done on time — interference engine. Water pump should always be done with the belt.
• DPF issues (2009+ models): Post-2009 models with DPF can clog with city driving. Forced regeneration or DPF cleaning needed.
• Car is 11 years old — some age-related maintenance expected (seals, suspension components)

• Renault Clio 1.5 dCi popular in Bulgaria (900+ listings). K9K belt interval is 90,000 km — at 150k+ km ensure belt has been replaced AT LEAST ONCE. Turbo and injector failures common.
• Diesel car from before 2018 with very low mileage suggests city-only use — DPF is likely clogged or has been removed (illegal). Check DPF status and EGR condition.
• Renault Scenic diesel (165 listings, avg 208k km, only €3.4k) — mostly 1.5 dCi (K9K) at end-of-life mileage. Turbo actuator failure, injectors need replacement, timing belt overdue. These are cheap but many need €2-3k to make roadworthy. Check for body rust on Scenic III/IV.
